Overall Purpose of the Job
• Perform 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and mapping to identify prospects suitable for exploration and appraisal, in line with the department’s annual plan and as directed by the Team Lead or Exploration Manager.
• Ensure the planning, execution, and monitoring of operated and non-operated G&G activities, and provide support for new business evaluations as required.
• Apply advanced seismic analysis techniques (e.g., inversion, AVO) to predict lithologies and fluid content from available seismic data.
Principal Accountabilities
• Support the regional understanding of petroleum systems across diverse geological settings providing geophysical data interpretation.
• Identify new plays and prospects by interpreting geophysical data using advanced techniques.
• Collaborate with relevant departments/consultants for planning, coordinating, and managing the acquisition and (re)processing of seismic surveys (surface and well seismic)
• Conduct seismo-stratigraphic interpretation, seismic sequence analysis, seismic facies analysis, and reservoir characterization using inversion techniques (acoustic, elastic, and multi-attribute), integrating sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy for a comprehensive reservoir evaluation.
• Perform petro-acoustic modeling, time-lapse analysis, and geophysical reservoir monitoring
• Conduct borehole seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation (e.g., VSP).
• Perform volumetric computations and risk analysis.
• Ensure clear and effective communication and reporting to management, partners, and regulatory authorities.
• Mentoring junior geoscientists and contributing to knowledge transfer within the organization.
Candidate Profile
• B.S./M.S. in Geophysics or related discipline.
• More than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, covering a variety of geological and tectonic settings.
• 4+ years of experience in seismic inversion and AVO is essential.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software like Hampson-Russel/RockDoc, DSG, Petrel etc.
