Position Summary
The Manager Drilling Engineering will lead the drilling engineering function and provide technical leadership and operational support for the planning and execution of drilling and workover operations. The role is responsible for delivering wells safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while ensuring compliance with company standards, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop drilling programs, casing designs, hydraulics, cementing programs and well abandonment plans.
Conduct well design reviews, risk assessments, and technical assurance processes.
Provide engineering support during drilling operations and troubleshoot operational challenges.
Lead and manage the drilling engineering team in planning and delivering drilling and workover projects.
Experienced and competent in managing suppliers and contractors.
Manage technical evaluations and recommendations for drilling rigs, tubulars, directional drilling, fluids, and other third-party services.
Prepare and manage drilling AFEs and monitor well costs against budget.
Optimize drilling performance through lessons learned and implementation of best practices.
Coordinate closely with geology, reservoir, production, HSE, supply chain, materials, and finance teams.
Lead post-well reviews and capture operational learnings for continuous improvement to minimize NPT.
Ensure compliance with HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or in a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 12 years of relevant drilling engineering and operations experience within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role within drilling engineering.
Experience with offshore drilling operations is a plus.
Strong understanding of well planning, well integrity, drilling optimization and well delivery processes.
Proficiency in software commonly used by well engineering function.
Knowledge of API standards and international drilling practices.
International experience and exposure to HPHT, horizontal or complex wells will be considered an added advantage.
