Overall Purpose of the Job
To ensure the correctness/soundness and quality of the Drilling Engineering work. To ensure timely preparation of all drilling programmes for submission to Well Operations Manager for approval; conduct studies and make recommendations to improve overall operational safety and efficiency; ensure JV partners technical requests and requirements are satisfied. Prepare cost estimates, budgets and AFEs for drilling projects. Plan and ensure availability of material for drilling of wells as per Client Prime drilling plan. Monitor and support drilling operations, suggests modifications / changes in programs to Well Operations Manager. Coordinate with warehouses and service companies for mobilization of services and material for drilling operations.
Principal Accountabilities
• To prepare drilling engineering programs.
• Support the Well Operations Manager to prepare the well operations budget.
• Liaison with Exploration, Reservoir and Production departments to define the suitable well design, operational sequence and cost optimization.
• Conduct evaluations, studies and prepare reports on any aspect of well operations with recommendations for improvements and optimization.
• Prepare cost estimates for wells to be drilled and/or worked over.
• Ensure that activities carried out by contractors meet contractual terms, budgeted costs and are conducted in accordance with good engineering practice.
• Daily follow up of well operations with Drilling Superintendent and Drilling Supervisors and make recommendations as necessary.
• Ensure the application of new technologies to optimize safety, operations and well cost.
• Contact & liaison with Contractors and management of respective contracts to ensure materials, equipment and services are provided on a timely basis and as per contract terms and conditions.
• Liaison with Field, Exploration and Reservoir groups to ensure that well objectives are satisfied.
• Preparation of tenders, PRs, evaluation of tenders and follow up with Procurement department to ensure timely availability of drilling services and material.
Candidate Profile
• BE in Petroleum & Gas Engineering
• Minimum 6 years experience in Drilling and Well Operations
• Planning and program preparation of exploratory, appraisal and development wells in line with Company’s Technical and HSE standards
• Support operations team during project execution
• Skilled in Landmark EDM Suite
• Familiar with contracts planning and tendering, LLIs planning and Allocation, material ordering and procurement of oilfield equipment
• Familiar with Air/foam drilling, MPD, LWD, advanced directional and casing running tools
• Familiar with best practices for HT, H2S and Horizontal wells drilling techniques
