Bhit Photovoltaic Plant – Energy Mix Brownfield Model

PIOGCL is committed to making its operations more sustainable by harnessing energy from alternative resources. Our primary aim is to cut emissions from our own operations and maximize utilization of renewable forms of energy. In this perspective, the largest off-grid brown field Photovoltaic (PV) project in Pakistan was setup and commissioned on November 7th, 2019. The Photovoltaic Plant having a maximum capacity of 10MW is owned by Prime Green Energy (Pvt) Limited.

Being one of Pakistan's largest off-grid captive brownfield projects, the facility features 30,324 solar modules divided into four Inverter Blocks operating on single axis tracking system. The Tracking system helps optimize energy production by up to ~15% by orienting the panels towards direction of the sun.

The PV Plant plays an important role in supplying clean and renewable energy to the Bhit Gas Plant which signifies PIOGCL’s commitment towards operational efficiency and use of sustainable energy practices. The Plant operates in synchronization with power generation at Bhit Gas Plant which is automatically set to share the load, giving priority to energy from the PV Plant. The PV Plant stands as a testament to PIOGCL’s contribution towards a greener and sustainable energy future by setting a precedent in Pakistan’s Oil & Gas sector for use of renewable energy solutions.
